Lisa Hoggarth
Therapeutic Counsellor
Welcome, I offer a supportive and safe space for you to explore your feelings, reflect and contemplate choices. Talking therapy is a unique opportunity to share and work through difficulties, in a compassionate and non-judgemental relationship. A deep, trusting therapeutic connection allows you to feel heard and accepted, and can enable healing to take place.
Counselling can empower you to choose what is right for you in your life at this time. We all need help at times when life becomes challenging. Everyone has their own individual counselling journey, whether it is to address a particular issue from the past or present, or to understand yourself better, to cope with change, for personal growth or healing. I believe in a person-centred approach and will work with you at your pace and focus on the areas that are important to you.

What can counselling offer?
The nature of a therapeutic relationship is unique, as it allows honest, open discussion. Unlike conversations with friends and family, person-centred therapy enables you to work out for yourself what you want, without judgement or advice from others, in a safe, confidential setting.
Therapy is confidential, which means that you can be truly honest about how you feel, and explore these emotions in depth. This alone can be very powerful. It helps you to connect with yourself, understand yourself better and can help you work towards personal growth.
Sessions are 1 hour long and ideally take place each week (usually on the same day and time). This continuity is important in counselling to build and maintain a strong therapeutic relationship. Short term therapy lasts for 6-8 sessions. I offer both long and short term therapy with regular reviews.
Counselling offers time for you, to explore what has brought you to therapy, perhaps a current situation or something from the past, including relationships, life events, loss, work issues or ill health.
The therapeutic journey can help you learn new tools to cope and replace unhelpful coping strategies
Fees.
Counselling £55 per 1 hour session, payment to be made in advance or on the day.
